Purpose

A section of no waiting at any time is
proposed to ensure that vehicles do not park in this location and
obstruct visibility of the crossing for approaching vehicles. This
will ensure that pedestrians waiting to use the crossing are able
to clearly see approaching vehicles. Barkerhouse Road is an
existing 30mph road while Smith Street is within an existing 20mph
zone and the visibility of the junction is poor.

Consultations
Formal consultation was carried out between 05 September 2025 and
03 October 2025which included advertising in the local press and
notices being displayed on site. Divisional county councillors were
consulted along with the council's usual consultees and the
consultation documents posted on the council's website.

Formal modification consultation was carried out between 14
November 2025 and 12 December 2025 which included advertising in
the local press and notices being displayed on site. Divisional
county councillors were consulted along with the council's usual
consultees and the consultation documents posted on the council's
website.

Following formal consultation 3 responses were received. The main
points raised in the responses along with Officer comments are
outlines in Appendix C.

Following the modification consultation, no additional responses
were received. One objection raised during the original
consultation was withdrawn; however, two objections remain in
place.
