Purpose

The purpose of the proposed Bus Stops Clearways is to support the upgrade of the existing bus stops to quality bus stops. This is to allow the buses to pull in and out safely and allow for effective enforcement.

A raised boarding platform will also be installed to ensure safe boarding and alighting of mobility impaired passengers and ensure the bus stops are fully mobility compliant.

The proposals are being pursued as part of a Section 278 agreement under the Highways Act 1980. These proposals are being funded fully by the developer and are linked to the new housing development and associated planning conditions on Rosemount Avenue.

Consultations

For Bus Stops - Formal consultation was carried out between 14 January 2026 and 11 February 2026 which was then extended between the 2nd March 2026 and the 30th March 2026 to ensure sufficient coverage in the area. This included frontagers to the proposed location of the Bus Stop being notified and notices being displayed on site. Divisional county councillors were consulted along with the council's usual consultees.

Following formal consultation and the extension No Objections were received.

Decision
