Purpose

This report accompanies the final Corporate Peer Challenge (CPC) report produced by the Local Government Association (LGA) following its review of Lancashire County Council.  The CPC is a core element of the LGA’s sector?led improvement framework and provides an independent, peer?led assessment of the Council’s leadership, governance, culture, financial sustainability and capacity to improve. The LGA report sets out both strengths and areas for development, alongside a small number of formal recommendations for the Council to address.

The purpose of this report is to:

• Provide context on the Corporate Peer Challenge and the scope of the review.
• Formally present the LGA’s published report (Appendix 'A' refers).
• Formally present the council's action plan in response to the recommendations (Appendix 'B' refers).
• Set out the next steps, including preparation for the LGA’s follow?up visit.

Decision

The Cabinet approved the recommendation(s) as set out in the report.
