The Environment, Economic Growth and Transport Scrutiny Committee of Lancashire Council decided on 19 March 2026 to approve recommendations regarding local electric vehicle infrastructure and public rights of way processes. The committee asked the Cabinet Member for Rural Affairs, Environment and Communities to consider including a prompt in the highways inspection process to assess joint cable trays for electric vehicle charging and to review the Definitive Map Modification Order process. They also agreed to a trial implementation of proposals for gates and stiles, obstructions, deterrent signs, and enforcement notices.
