Purpose

The Street Lighting Team undertake structural assessments of lighting columns in accordance with Guidance Note 22 (GN22) Asset-Management Toolkit: Minor Structures, recommended by the Institute of Lighting Professionals.
The results allow a recommended re-test date, between 3 years and no later than 6 years. If the results indicate likely column failure, depending on the severity and extent of the deterioration a removal date of within 12 to 24 weeks or that the column should be immediately removed is recommended.
