Purpose

The purpose of the proposed red route clearway is to prohibit vehicles from stopping, waiting or parking at any time on the A679 Accrington Road Hapton, including the verge and footway, in the vicinity of the new industrial estate.

The exception to this is where designated bus stop clearway markings are located allowing passengers to board and alight the bus at the stops.

The red route clearway is required in the interest of providing a safe, accessible route for all vehicles and pedestrians and improved bus journey time.

The proposals are being pursued as part of a s278 Agreement under the Highways Act 1980 as part of a new housing development.
