Purpose
Following concerns raised by the local bus operator Wyre Council. working in partnership with Lancashire County Council and the Town Council, have developed proposals aimed at improving traffic flow. This involves constructing a buildout near Stoops Weind, designed specifically to discourage inappropriate parking, and extending the existing No Waiting Mon-Sat 8am-6pm restriction southwards.
Whilst the implementation of this proposal will result in the removal of two limited waiting parking spaces and corresponding No Waiting Thursday 8am-6pm restriction on the east side, the measures are considered necessary to ensure the safe and efficient movement of traffic, particularly buses, along High Street
Consultations
Formal consultation was carried out between 29 October 2025 and 26 November 2025 which included advertising in the local press and notices being displayed on site. Divisional county councillors were consulted along with the council's usual consultees and the consultation documents posted on the council's website.
Following formal consultation No Objections were received.
However, comments were submitted by the Town Council and the local County Councillor regarding wider traffic and parking issues in the area.
