Purpose

Transportation of Waste Material in Lancashire contract.

This contract provides transportation services for a range of waste materials to the Council's existing disposal facilities. This includes transportation of waste materials which can be recovered, recycled or composted such as residual waste, asbestos, green waste, paper and card, glass, cans, plastics, ferrous metals, mattresses and inert waste.

The majority of journeys are made transporting waste materials from the Council's Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) to the various suppliers disposal/recovery/recycling/composting facilities.

The current contract is due to expire 31 March 2027. Under the existing terms and conditions, the contract has the provision to be extended in 12 month periods up to 31 March 2029. The contract requires the Council to provide a minimum 9 month notice to the supplier, Fox Brothers (Leyland) Ltd, if the Council wishes to activate an extension.
