Purpose

This report presents an application from a local organisation requesting £1848.67 towards boxing equipment from the Local Member Grants Scheme.

Decision

County Councillor Alf Clempson considered and rejected a Local Member Grant to Mind in Motion CIC towards the cost of a portable PA system with microphone, together with boxing gloves, hand wraps, focus pads and skipping ropes for use in Mind in Motion CIC.

County Councillor Alf Clempson advised that he was unable to support the application at this time. Ordinarily, he would be familiar with the group requesting support, which would typically be a local organisation. However, this application appeared to be from a Blackpool-based group, and he has not had the opportunity to review their work or assess their activities. In addition, he considered the funding amount requested to be too high. Going forward, County Councillor Clempson would welcome an invitation to attend the group's meetings or activities so that he could satisfy himself that Poulton residents were benefiting from the organisation's work.
