Purpose

The proposals are part of the wider Bus Service Improvement Plans (BSIPs) and aim to enhance bus services and amenities for passengers by introducing raised boarding areas and traffic regulation orders so that buses can arrive and depart efficiently and safely.
• No Waiting at Any Time to prevent obstructive parking, maintain clear visibility at junctions and ensure safe and efficient movement of vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.
• No Loading at Any Time to prevent obstruction caused by loading activity, maintain clear sightlines and access, and enhance safety and traffic flow.
• Goods vehicles loading bay to improve efficiency, safety and security by allowing fast, direct loading and unloading, reducing manual handling risk for staff and to prevent congestion or disruption to surrounding traffic
• Limited waiting bays to provide loading and parking opportunities for local businesses and will help prevent vehicles from being parked for extended periods in a high demand area
It is hoped this will give confidence to encourage more users to consider commuting via non-motorised means and this will improve health and air quality for the residents.

REASONS UNDER Section 1 of the RTRA
(a) for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising, or
(c) for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians), or
(f) for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs, or


Consultations
Formal consultation was carried out between 9th July 2026 and 6th August 2026 which included advertising in the local press and notices being displayed on site. Divisional county councillors were consulted along with the council's usual consultees and the consultation documents posted on the council's website.


Following formal consultation No Objections were received.
