Purpose

The proposals are being pursued as part of a Section 278 agreement under the Highways Act 1980. These proposals are being funded fully by the development linked to the new cricket ground and the future housing development and the associated planning conditions.

The proposals include the removal and relocation of the existing bus stops to more suitable positions and to support their upgrade to quality bus stops. This is to allow the buses to pull in and out safely and allow for effective enforcement.

A raised boarding platform will also be installed to ensure safe boarding and alighting of mobility impaired passengers and ensure the bus stops are fully mobility compliant. Bus shelters are also to be provided.


Consultations
Formal consultation was carried out between 28 August 2026 and 25 September 2026 included frontagers to the proposed location of the Bus Stop being notified and notices being displayed on site. Divisional county councillors were consulted along with the council's usual consultees.

Following formal consultation No Objections were received.


 

Decision
