Purpose

Approval is sought for Lancashire County Council to allocate £8,000 funding received from BDW Trading Limited under the Highway Network Contribution secured through the Section 106 Agreement associated with planning application 07/2017/3361/ORM.

The funding will be used to deliver a signing and lining scheme on Longmeanygate to improve the visibility of the approved development access and to raise awareness of the nearby private residential access at Longmeanygate. The proposal responds to complaints from residents that drivers seeking to access the development are mistakenly entering the private residential access.

The proposed scheme accords with the purposes of the Section 106 contribution, specifically Point 4, which seeks to support wider signing and gateway measures on routes in and around the development.

Authority to take this decision has been delegated to the Head of Service – Highways Network Management.

That the Director of Law and Governance is authorised to allocate and spend £8,000 of the Section 106 Highway Network Contribution funding to deliver a signing and lining scheme on Longmeanygate to improve the visibility of the approved development access and inform drivers of the presence of the nearby private residential access..
