People and Organisational Development Committee

The People and Organisational Development Committee is responsible for key human resources and staff matters at Lancaster City Council, particularly concerning senior appointments and terms of employment. It develops and reviews council policies on recruitment, staff conditions, and employee development, including areas like whistleblowing, disciplinary procedures, and health and safety.

The committee makes decisions on redundancy and redeployment for senior officer posts, considers severance requests, and appoints panels to handle appeals and appraisals for Chief Officers. It also recommends the Annual Pay Policy Statement to the Council and deals with national pay negotiations and other personnel matters not delegated to officers.
