Purpose

The Ministry of Housing,
Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) has awarded Leeds City
Council (LCC) £2.4 million through the Domestic Abuse Safe
Accommodation Grant for 2025-26. In line with recurring new burdens
funding this has been consolidated into the Local Government
Finance Settlement. The grant is clearly identifiable in the
Settlement as a new separate line and its purpose is to enable LCC
to meet its responsibilities, under Part 4 of the Domestic Abuse
Act 2021, to support victims of domestic abuse and their children
within safe accommodation
Approval is being sought to:

accept the grant allocation from
MHCLG
award funding to a number of
organisations to continue the support they are providing to
victim-survivors of domestic abuse (funded through this grant
previously)

allocate an element of the grant to the
Council in order to fund the administrative burden associated with
the Statutory Duty
