Purpose
The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local
Government (MHCLG) have announced how the Homelessness Prevention
Grant 2025/26 will be allocated. Leeds
City Council has been allocated £6,140,329.00. MHCLG intend
to send funds on 1st May 2025. A Key decision will be
required to receive the grant and approve its allocation.
The grant will support and enable the delivery
of statutory homelessness functions and will be allocated to
homelessness prevention & relief activity, staffing costs,
temporary accommodation cost, and any other appropriate and
necessary spend.
Approval is being sought to:
· Accept the grant
allocation from MHCLG of £6,140,329.00 for 2025-26
· Approve the proposed
allocation of how the grant will be spent in 2025-26.
Content
The Director of Communities, Housing and
Environment:-
a)
Approved acceptance of the Homelessness Prevention Grant
2025/26.
b)
Approved the budget allocation of the Homelessness Prevention Grant
2025/26 as set out in Appendix 1.
c)
Approved acceptance of any future funding from Ministry of Housing,
Communities and Local Government, that is paid in the form of a top
up to the Homelessness Prevention Grant within 2025/26 with its
allocation set by Leeds Housing Options in a way that meets service
demand and pressures and achieves key objectives at that time.
d)
Approved the creation of 1x PO2 Housing Manager post on the Leeds
Housing Options structure, recruited to through the normal
processes on a permanent basis.
e)
Approved the creation of 1x SO2 Senior Housing Advisor post on the
Leeds Housing Options structure recruited to through the normal
processes on a permanent basis.
f)
Approved the creation of 1x C3 Housing Officer post on the Leeds
Housing Options structure, recruited to through he normal processes
on a permanent basis.
g)
Approved the creation of 2x C1 Housing Adviser posts on the Leeds
Housing Options structure recruited to through the normal processes
on a permanent basis.
