Purpose
The Pride in Place Programme is the
Government’s flagship community initiative designed to
empower residents to shape the future of their neighbourhoods. With
up to £5 billion invested over 10 years, the programme
provides long-term support to strengthen communities across Great
Britain. Led by the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local
Government (MHCLG), it will benefit 244 neighbourhoods, each able
to access up to £20 million.
In Leeds, three neighbourhoods were selected
in September 2025 as part of Phase 2 of the programme, joining
Middleton Park, which entered earlier in June 2025 as a Trailblazer
pilot area. Each neighbourhood will establish a Neighbourhood Board
responsible for creating a 10 year vision and a detailed
Regeneration Plan, shaped by local people and partner
organisations.
Communities will determine local priorities
through extensive engagement, focusing on three core objectives:
building stronger communities, creating thriving places, and
empowering people to take back control. The four Leeds programmes
are expected to begin delivery in April 2026, with Capacity Funding
available to Local Authorities from January 2026 to support early
recruitment and programme development.
