Purpose

 

Brief Description

Care Delivery Service
within Adults and Health is seeking to procure a new service for
the regular delivery of linen and laundry, intended to replace the
existing contract (47610) which currently serves five services:
three Recovery Hubs and two Care Homes.
The existing contract
has utilised all available extensions and ends on 31/05/2026.
The proposed
procurement will be structured for an initial period of two years,
with the option to extend for a further two periods of twelve
months each and these will all be direct consequences of this key
decision.
The anticipated annual
contract value is £128k

Returning this
service to in-house provision is forecasted to significantly
increase costs and would require recruitment to five Laundry
Assistant positions and the purchasing of all stock currently

The Director of Adults and
Health authorised the procurement of a new Linen and Laundry
contract for an initial two-year period from 1 June 2026 to 31 May
2028, with the option to extend for two additional 12-month
periods, at an annual value of £128,000. The overall value of
this contract, if all extensions are utilised, is anticipated to be
£512,000. The route of procuring the new contract is through
the NHS North of England Framework “Laundry and Linen
Services Total Solutions (NOE.0572)” via a mini competition.
The evaluation will be based on price quality separated, only the
bids who meet minimum quality will be evaluated on
price.
