The Chief Officer of Environmental Services
gave approval to implement revised charges referred to in the
accompanying report and Appendix A, to take effect from 2nd October
2023. This decision enables the service to implement the budget
decision made at Council in March 2023 to apply an inflationary
increase to trade waste charges. The Chief Officer is asked to
approve that the review of charges is now made annually, with any
changes required to cover rise in costs implemented at the
beginning of the financial year in future, beginning 2024/25.

The Chief Officer also approved the introduction of new commercial
waste charges to recover the additional cost of
processing/disposing of waste that may contain Persistent Organic
Pollutants (POPs), to reduce the admin fee to support smaller waste
carriers, and introduce a new surcharge for causing costly waste
contamination.
