The Mayor and Cabinet decided on 09/09/2026 to approve the investment, refurbishment, and operation of a 5-6 bed in-house children's home at 200 Kirkdale, Sydenham. They also approved an additional £479,000 capital budget requirement, bringing the total to £1.68m, and noted the use of a £800,000 Department for Education capital grant and a £400,000 capital receipt. Authority was delegated to the Executive Director for Children and Young People to finalise implementation arrangements, including staffing, recruitment, operating policies, and Ofsted registration.
