Purpose

The council has powers to offer
discretionary rate relief to businesses/organisations to help
sustain businesses by reducing their rates (NNDR) burden in
specific circumstances, as well as support people live healthy and
active lives, through providing discretionary relief to charities
and amateur sports clubs.??
 
To do this, the council must
have a discretionary business rates policy in place that describes
the discretionary reliefs available, how to apply, how to appeal
and what applicants may be awarded.
 
The council’s current
discretionary business rates policy has been reviewed and an
updated version is recommended for approval.

Decision

The Cabinet Member for Finance &
Commissioning approved the new policy.
