Purpose

A Council decision on 11 July 2023 approved that Cabinet Delegates Authority to the Leader and Chief Executive in consultation with the Monitoring Officer and the Section 151 Officer to complete all contracts and demolition related to enabling works for the Birmingham Road Site subject to the financial implications being within Approved Budget.

This report sets out the intention to approve an award of a contract to Cawarden Co. Ltd for a maximum 26-week programme of work with a value of £824,944.40 for the demolition of the Birmingham Road multi-storey car park, four retail units and associated landscaping works.

In line with CPR’S, an open tender procurement exercise has been undertaken to identify a suitable contractor detailing evidence of quality and value for money. 

Decision

To approve an award of a contract to Cawarden Co. Ltd for a maximum 26-week programme of work with a value of £824,944.40 for the demolition of the Birmingham Road multi-storey car park, four retail units and associated landscaping works.
