Purpose

The council hosts the Lichfield
District and Tamworth Borough Council Joint Waste Service (JWS),
through which it is committed to delivering a cost-effective,
efficient, and sustainable waste collection service to local
households.
 
Every year the partnership
prepares a business plan that sets out its strategic objectives
that align with national, regional, and local policies while
addressing local and environmental challenges and improving service
delivery.
 
The draft business plan was
considered by the Joint Waste Committee on 24 March 2024 and
approved, subject to minor amendments and formal approval by both
councils.
 
This paper seeks approval from
the Cabinet Member for the Joint Waste Business Plan 2025-2026 (see
Appendix A of the Cabinet Member report).

Decision

The Cabinet Member for Operational Services,
Parks & Waste approved:
 

·      
The Joint Waste Business Plan 2025-2026 (see Appendix A of the
Cabinet Member report), subject to approval from Tamworth Borough
Council through its own governance procedures.
 

·      
The delegation of the implementation of the business plan to the
Cabinet Member for Operational Services, Parks & Waste and
Director of Resident & Business Services at Lichfield District
Council in partnership with the Joint Waste Committee.
