Purpose
The council has a legal duty to
work with partners to reduce crime and disorder through a community
safety partnership, as required by the Crime and Disorder Act
1998.
As part of this, the council is
required to develop a community safety strategy based on a local
strategic assessment, setting out how we will respond to community
safety concerns, including crime, anti-social behaviour, and
related issues.
Over the past six months, the
community safety partnership has worked with Impera Analytics and local community researchers to
create a new community-led community safety strategy and
accompanying data dashboard of local statistics, against which we
can measure the progress of the strategy.
This paper seeks approval of
the new community safety strategy, data dashboard and community
safety delivery plan for 2025-2026.
