Purpose

Recommendation that the council
accept £328,000 of capital grant from Homes England under the
Affordable Homes Programme (AHP) 2021-2026.  The funding will be used to provide Move On
accommodation for residents experiencing homelessness, supporting
the Council’s ongoing work to increase safe, sustainable
housing options.

Decision

The Leader:
 
Approved the inclusion in a future Money
Matters Report to Cabinet of an update to the Medium Term Financial
Strategy to reflect the receipt of this £328,000 of capital
grant funding.
 
Approved acceptance of £328,000 if grant
funding from Homes England to be spent on Move On properties in the
district.
 
Authorised the execution of any associated
grant funding agreements or documentation required by Homes
England.
 
Delegated authority to the Chief Officer and
S151 Officer to finalise the grant conditions and ensure compliance
with monitoring and auditing requirements.

Reasons for the decision

The acceptance of the funds for Move On
properties will support residents transitioning out of temporary or
supported accommodation into sustainable, longer-term housing after
experiencing homelessness. These homes provided by the council will
give vital stability and help reduce homelessness pressures across
the district.

To not agree to accept the grant from Homes
England.
