Decision

1.   
That the Council’s use of the Regulation of Investigatory
Powers Act 2000 (RIPA) and the Investigatory Powers Act (IPA) for
the period 1 January 2023 – 31 December 2023, be noted.

 
2.   
That the revised RIPA policy, attached as Appendix 1 to the report,
be approved.
 
3.   
That the proposals for the training of officers as detailed in the
policy and preparations for the forthcoming inspection from the
Investigatory Powers Commissioner’s Office (IPCO), be
supported.
 
4.   
That authority be delegated to the Chief Legal Officer to update
the list of Authorising Officers, make any minor  or legislative amendments to the policy and the
update the application forms when required.
