The Schools Forum in Manchester provides professional advice to education decision-makers and ensures transparent resource deployment. It acts as a formal communication channel between the Council and schools regarding school funding.

The Forum has strategic oversight of all funding decisions affecting schools and is involved in annual consultations on the schools budget. This includes decisions related to pupils with Special Educational Needs, early years provision, revisions to the school financing scheme, central government grants, and free school meals arrangements. The Forum must be consulted on any proposed changes to the Council's school funding formula and their financial implications.
