Purpose

To approve the award of contract for supplying food waste
collection vehicles to the supplier in line with officer recommendation.

Decision

1)   
To instruct Biffa to place an order on behalf of
Melton Borough Council for the provision of five food waste collection
vehicles. Noting these vehicles will be paid for and owned by Melton Borough
Council.

 

2)   
In the event that Biffa are awarded a variation of
the main services contract to include food waste, to lease the vehicles to
Biffa to deliver the food waste service for the Council.

 

3)   
To enter into any necessary legal documentation to effect the order of vehicles and any subsequent
lease/licence agreements between MBC and Biffa for the operation of those
vehicles.

 

4)   
To utilise capital receipts to top up the existing
capital funding provided by Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
(DEFRA) to purchase the vehicles.
