The Standards Committee is responsible for promoting and maintaining high standards of conduct among Middlesbrough Council's elected members and the Mayor. It advises the Council on its Members' Code of Conduct, monitors compliance, and provides training. The committee considers reports on members' conduct, including breaches of the Code of Conduct, and can impose sanctions. It also handles declarations of interest and can grant dispensations. Its functions extend to Parish Councils.
