Purpose

To consider approving the commencement of a
procurement exercise for capital works to create ASC units at two
schools in Milton Keynes.

Content

1.         That resource
allocation and spend approval in the 2024/25 Capital Programme of
£660,000, funded from the Special Provision Fund (Grant
funding from Central Government), be used to fund capital works at
both schools to create Autism Spectrum Condition (APC) Units for
SEND pupils, be agreed.

2.        
That, noting the
economies of scale benefit of awarding to a single contractor
through shared resources across the two sites, the commencement of
a procurement process for the capital project be
approved:

(a)        utilising a
mini competition to suitably pre-qualified and competent suppliers;
and

(b)       appointing a single
contractor via Pagabo, a national construction framework for the
capital works to create the ASC Units.

3.        
That authority be
delegated to the Director of Children’s Services, in
consultation with the Director of Environment and Property and
Director for Finance and Resources, to award the contracts,
following completion of the tender process.
