Full council record
Purpose

To consider adopting a list of locally
significant buildings, structures and pieces of public realm, which
increases their importance in the planning process, and to agree
the timescale for Phase 2 of the New Town Heritage
Register.

Content

1.
That the positive
contribution that New Town Heritage makes in Milton Keynes’
unique character and identity, and its role in creating a sense of
place for new and existing communities, be recognised.

2.         That the
members of the New Town Heritage Register (NTHR) Selection Panel
who have committed substantial time to the project on a voluntarily
basis be thanked for their work, together with MK Forum for its
ongoing voluntary assistance in researching the potential heritage
significance of the nominated assets.

3.         That
the NTHR be adopted,
and the assets be non-designated heritage assets, making them a
material consideration in planning decisions.

4.         That
the timescale for
phase two of the NTHR (as set out in paragraph 6.2 of the report)
be approved.

5.         That the
‘Black Horse’ by Elisabeth Frink and the three
sculptures by Bernard Schottlander in
Fred Roche Gardens be put forward for statutory listing.
