 Decision:

That the new discretionary scheme known as Electric Vehicle Charging Point Rates Relief, be adopted.

Reason for Decision:

The Welsh Government will provide grant funding to all 22 local authorities in Wales to deliver Electric Vehicle Charging Point Rates Relief.

The relief is being offered until 31 March 2036. From 1 April 2024 until 31 March 2027, it will be awarded under the discretionary relief powers of local authorities. The Welsh Government intends to legislate for the relief to continue on a statutory basis from 1 April 2027 until 31 March 2036.

Each Authority must adopt the scheme and decide in each individual case when to grant relief under Section 47 of The Local Government Finance Act 1988. Business Rates relief provided in this scheme is then reimbursed via a grant to each Local Authority.

Implementation of Decision:

The decision will be implemented after the three day call in period.
