About

The Health and Social Care Scrutiny Committee reviews and scrutinises health services and social care provision in Newcastle upon Tyne. It ensures these services are effective, equitable, and meet residents' needs.

The committee examines matters related to public health, adult and children's social care, mental health services, and support for carers. It can call in decisions for review, request information from council officers and external bodies, and make recommendations to the City Council or Cabinet. The committee also has an advisory role and can participate in regional health scrutiny work.
