Purpose
The purpose of this report is to seek approval
to negotiate direct authorisation with TUC to continue to
facilitate and provide the award scheme for Better Health Work for
nine (9) local authorities within North-East, rather than to
advertise for a new tender. This award scheme is used to recognises
the efforts of local employers in addressing health issues within
the workplace
The current contract with the supplier to
coordinate the project is due to expire on the 30th of
April 2025 on which date two local authorities who were previously
involved with the Project have decided to discontinue their
involvement. The TUC best-suited organisation to deliver the
service, given their extensive experience and success
The other local authorities have agreed that
Newcastle will be the Lead Authority and will direct the award on a
12-month contract. The 12-month period will provide an opportunity
for the Local Authorities to review the Project and determine
future steps which is likely to require a procurement exercise.
Content
The Local Authorities have agreed to meet the
costs to be paid to the supplier for coordinating the Project of
£95,322.40
This contract will be in place 1 May 2025 -30
April 2026 (12 month)
