Purpose

A carers support service is commissioned in
order for the council to meet its statutory duties under The Care
Act 2014 and The Children and Families Act 2014, which provides
information, support and advice for people (including young people
and children) who are in an unpaid caring role. The contract is
funded by Newcastle Council and the North East and North Cumbria
Integrated Care Board. The current contracted provider will be
offered an extension to their contract, approved via a Key DD. This
will enable funding partners time in the contract extension period
to translate any changes in the financial envelope to a new
commissioning model, whilst maintaining our statutory duties.
