Purpose

To seek a delegated
decision to accept the government Depot Charging Scheme Grant and
enter into a grant funding agreement with the Department for
Transport. The grant will enable 35 electric vehicle charging
points to be installed to support our fleet transition to electric
vehicles.
One of the
Council’s key commitments is reducing the City’s carbon
emissions as agreed in the Newcastle Net Zero Action Plan 2030. The
councils green fleet policy supports our transition to electric
vehicles but a barrier to purchasing vehicles has been the lack of
charging infrastructure to support these vehicles.
