Purpose

We are seeking approval through a Key DD to
allocate funding. The key DD seeks approval to award recommended
grants (following an evaluation process) under Round 16 of the
Newcastle Fund, which is the council’s main grant giving
programme for voluntary and community organisations, charities and
social enterprises.
The Fund supports projects which use the skills and knowledge of
local people to:
•build community connection
•improve individuals' connections
•improve health and wellbeing

Content

- 
Approve the award of grant funding to 21 successful applications,
with a total award amount of £487,217 as set out in Appendix
A.
- 
Note the anticipated ‘reach and impact’ of the projects
recommended for funding as set out in Appendix B.
- 
Approve the allocation of funding to ringfenced projects as set out
in section 5.
- 
Approve an underspend on the £500,000 allocated for Round 16
main grants of £12,783 to be added to the budget for Round 16
Small Grants, giving a total budget of £87,783.
- 
Instruct the Head of Service, Quality, Strategy and Innovation in
conjunction with the Assistant Director Legal Services, to complete
the necessary documentation.
