Purpose

A new residential development has been constructed at Sheriff Gardens. In line with current design principles for residential streets, it is proposed to introduce a 20mph speed limit throughout Sheriff Gardens.

The proposal is intended to ensure vehicle speeds are appropriate for a residential environment and to support the creation of a safe and attractive place for residents, visitors and other road users. Lower vehicle speeds are recognised as helping to reduce the severity of collisions and improve conditions for pedestrians and cyclists.

The proposed measure comprises:

  •   Introduction of a 20mph speed limit on Sheriff Gardens.
