Overview and Scrutiny Committee

The Overview and Scrutiny Committee scrutinises the decisions and actions of the North East Mayor and the Cabinet on behalf of residents across the North East Combined Authority area. It considers matters of strategic importance to influence decision-making and enhance accountability and transparency.

The committee, composed of 14 councillors from the seven constituent councils, reviews and challenges proposals and policies. Its work aims to ensure that the views of local communities are represented and considered in the strategic direction of the Combined Authority.
