Compensation for Upheld Complaint (Housing Needs) - DEC23/CMDN/72
December 20, 2023 Cabinet Member for Housing, Growth and Regeneration (Cabinet member) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
The Cabinet Member approve a payment of
£2950 to compensate a complainant for delays in the processing of their application in line with the Peterborough Homes Allocations
Policy and delays in the Peterborough City Council
complaints process.
Reasons for the decision
·
The payment is in line with our complaint's
procedure
·
The award has been set at a rate to recompense the customer in line
with upheld evidenced loss as part of the complaint
investigation.
·
The award resolves the complaint and prevents further time and
resources spent dealing with any further
grievance.
Alternative options considered
The complaint has been reviewed by senior officers both within
and outside of the service and upheld at the amount mentioned to
recompense the loss to the customer. Consideration could have been
given to making an argument to not award in this way which could
have led to further action from the complainant resulting in
additional resources. Therefore, this option was
discounted.
Also, a reduced amount of funding could have been offered but
this would also have resulted in the above, and therefore this
option was discounted.
