Purpose

The Cabinet Member Authorised the Council to enter into an Inter-Authority Joint Procurement Collaboration Agreement with Cambridgeshire County Council, Bedford Borough Council, Central Bedfordshire County Council and Luton Borough Council in relation to the procurement of a contract for the supply, installation and maintenance of traffic signals. This agreement will cover the procurement period (up to September 2024) and then remain in place for as long as the period of the call-off contract.

Reasons for the decision

This recommendation has been made to ensure the Council is able to effectively procure and deliver the traffic signals supply, install and maintenance contract in partnership with the LA consortium members.

Alternative options considered

The Council could procure an individual contract for its own traffic signal supply, installation and maintenance however this approach is not considered to be optimal as the benefits of economies of scale cannot be achieved without the partnership.
