Purpose

Draft of the refreshed Renewals Policy governing the award of
Disabled Facility Grants from 21st April 2025 to 31st March
2028.

Decision

The Cabinet approved:
 

1.    
To continue to provide
discretionary disabled facility ‘top up’ grants, where
eligible adaptation work is more than the mandatory £30,000
limit.

 

2.    
To increase the current
discretionary disabled facility ‘top up’ grant from
£20,000 to £30,000 to enable adaptation works up to
£60,000 to be completed. This change is due to the rise in
building materials and labour costs since Covid.
 

3.    
To continue to provide the
hospital discharge/hospital avoidance grant for individuals at risk
of being admitted into hospital or ensuring a timely discharge from
hospital.

 

4.    
To continue to provide the
disabled persons relocation grant for disabled adults and children
when their current home cannot be adapted.
