Purpose

To propose launching a public
consultation for the 2026/27 budget to gather input from residents,
businesses, and partners on the council’s financial position
and spending priorities. This consultation will inform budget
proposals aimed at balancing the council’s finances amid
ongoing fiscal challenges and anticipated funding
changes.

Cabinet RESOLVED
unanimously to approve the launch
of the Budget Consultation 2026/27 from 14 October 2025, closing on
25 November 2025.

With the approval of the
Monitoring Officer and the Chair of the Sustainable Future City
Council Scrutiny Committee, a waiver of call-in procedures has been
invoked to suspend the 3-day call-in period and this decision can
be implemented immediately. This will allow the public consultation
to run for as long a period as possible and to ensure that those
who wish to engage have every opportunity to do so.
