Decision

1. Noted the urgent need for action to tackle the growing number of surplus places in LA maintained infant and junior schools.
2. Agreed to consult on the following proposals from 21 October 2026 to 1 December 2026:

a.    The amalgamation of Southsea Infant School and Craneswater Junior school into a 2-form entry primary school;

b.    The reconfiguration of Bramble Infant School, Cumberland Infant School, and Manor Infant School into three 1-form entry primary schools.

c.     Consequent changes to the published admission numbers (PANs) at Fernhurst Junior School and Wimborne Primary School.

1. Agreed to officers working with the relevant Academy Trusts and Diocesan Boards to develop a further tranche of specialist and inclusion provision with provision proposed at Penbridge Junior School, St Paul's CE Primary School, and Cottage Grove Primary School.
2. Noted that work will follow on proposals for developing inclusion and specialist provision within mainstream secondary schools.
