About

The Emergency Planning Committee is responsible for overseeing emergency planning functions across four unitary authorities. It reviews and recommends annual budgets for the Emergency Planning Unit, approves its work programme, and submits grant bids to the Home Office. The committee also monitors the unit's performance, advises authorities on best practices and new legislation, and handles the appointment of the Chief Emergency Planning Officer. It ensures appropriate staffing, accommodation, and equipment for the unit, and approves attendance at relevant conferences and member seminars.
