Purpose

The report sets out the options for
RBBC’s roll out of the Government's Resources & Waste
Strategy, termed Simpler Recycling.

Decision

RESOLVED –
that the Executive:
 
(i)            
Approve the inclusion of additional one-off revenue funding of
£180,000 to complete the roll out of the full recycling
service by 31 March 2026 to the remaining 5,500 properties in the
borough to comply with statutory requirements.
(ii)          
Approve moving our Schools & Colleges paid for collection
service to existing domestic rounds. Approve the gradual withdrawal
of residual Trade Waste services as compliance with the new regime
evolves. To delegate authority to the Head of Neighbourhood
Services in consultation with the Portfolio Holder for
Neighbourhood Services to keep under review and implement this
service closure as necessary.
(iii)        
Approve the phased removal of all council managed Recycling
Centres (Bring sites) within the borough no later than 30 September
2026 (aligned with the full domestic roll out – See
(i). To delegate authority to the Head
of Neighbourhood Services in consultation with the portfolio holder
to implement as necessary.
