Purpose

Response to Government's directive.

Decision

RESOLVED that the
Executive:
 
(i)            
Notes that the joint Interim Local Government Reorganisation
Plan, attached at Appendix 1, will be submitted to the Ministry of
Housing, Communities and Local Government by 21 March 2025.
(ii)          
Notes that this Council prefers the option of three unitary
councils, as outlined under the Joint Interim Plan, and endorses
that the proposals of the Districts and Boroughs for reorganisation
into three unitary authorities be submitted to Government on 21
March 2025, subject to further work, data analysis, and agreement
of assumptions by Section 151 officers being undertaken to inform
the 9 May submission.
