The Cabinet considered
a report of the Director of Corporate Services and Chief Finance
Officer, which sought to inform that the Business Rate Relief
Policy needed to be amended for 2025-26
due to changes announced by Government in 2024.
 
The report author
was in attendance to present the
information and to address the questions and the comments of the
Cabinet Members.
 
Resolved:
1.   
That it be noted that the Retail,
Hospitality and Leisure Relief Scheme had been extended for a
further year. The relief had been reduced from 75% to 40% for
2025-26;
2.   
That the Chief Finance Officer in consultation with the Portfolio
Holder for Finance and Growth be given delegated authority to
finalise the 2025/26 Discretionary Business Rate Relief Policy in
the event that the Government announce any further changes for
2025-26.
 
Reason for
decision:
The changes to the
Policy had  been announced by Government and had to be
administered by the Council.

considered and rejected:
None –
Government had instructed the Council to provide the reliefs.
