About

The Licensing and General Purposes Committee is responsible for the Council's functions related to the Licensing Act 2003 and gambling legislation. It also handles matters concerning health and safety at work, appeals against authority decisions, and applications for benefits and discretionary rate relief.

Additionally, the committee oversees elections and electoral registration, parish and town council matters, standing orders, and issues related to pollution control, contaminated land, and air quality. While the full committee has these responsibilities, its licensing duties are typically delegated to a smaller sub-committee for individual application decisions.
