Purpose

Following a positive result at the Referendum,
the Strategic Director of Places in consultation with the Portfolio
Holder for Planning, Property and Economic Development are
authorised to ‘make’ the Edith Weston Neighbourhood
Plan part of the Development Plan for Rutland.

Decision

The Neighbourhood Plan secured community
approval through a referendum which took place on the 20th February
2025 where the Edith Weston Neighbourhood Development Plan
successfully passed referendum with 108 (95%) of the votes cast
agreeing that it can be used by Rutland County Council for the
determination of planning applications.
The County Council is required to formally ‘make’ the
Plan as part of the statutory development plan within 8 weeks of
the referendum date.

The Edith Weston Neighbourhood Development Plan 2023 – 2041,
Submission Plan (incorporating the Examiners modifications as per
the RCC Decision Statement), complies with the legal requirements
and basic conditions set out in the Localism Act 2011.

This decision has been made by the Director of Places through
powers delegated by the Council’s constitution dated 6th June
2023, in consultation with Cllr Paul Browne, Portfolio Holder for
Planning, Property and Economic Development.
