Purpose
Cabinet approved the Transport Network Review
on 12th November 2024 including a proposal to consult on the future
of the R4 service which operates from Uppingham via villages in the
south of the county to Kings School, Peterborough.
Consultation ended on 17th March 2025. No response was received
from the school and four responses were received from
parents.
This service costs £42k a year and carries between 11 and 13
Rutland children each day to this school of choice. The Council has
no statutory duty to provide transport for the children using the
service and changes are necessary to deliver the MTFS savings of
£300k for local bus service provision.
Decision
To serve notice to the bus operator (Central
Connect) to terminate the service at the end of the 2024/25
academic year and to advise Kings College, Peterborough and the
four responses received from parents, that funding will no longer
be provided by Rutland County Council.
